A very good morning to you all.

As promised, I would update you on the latest surrounding the cold snap arriving from this weekend.

The snow risk has all but gone for the Southwest as the weather front we were keeping an eye on will sink south across the eastern side of the country, bringing with it a risk of snow to London and the Southeast.

For us in the Southwest although it will get much colder with daytime temperatures struggling to get much above 3 to 5 degrees by day, the main risk will be from ice.

Due to all the rain of late, any surface water and run-off will freeze bringing the the risk of black ice and slippery pavements.

We could see the odd snow flurry from a passing shower, blown on by a keen east or north-easterly wind but isolated and the main risk areas will be parts of eastern Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset, closest to the weather system threatening to bring snow to eastern counties of the UK.

So don’t pack away your winter warmers just yet as it’s about to get much colder once again but snow, unfortunately not.

I’ll bring you the full detailed week ahead on Sunday.

Stay safe!
