Yellow Weather Warning for heavy rain

Valid from 16.00 Wednesday 10th June – Valid until 09.00 Thursday 11th June

Areas affected are: Cornwall, Devon, Plymouth, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Swansea.

During this afternoon/evening we are expecting heavy rain to develop over parts of Wales. This will move southwards through the evening and overnight.
By Thursday morning this is expected to break up and clear to more showery conditions.
We could see between 20 to 30 mm of rainfall in quite a wide area but a few places may see between 50 and 70 mm, most places could see the bulk of this in a 6 hour period.
Where it’s been dry for so long there is a chance of localised flooding, surface spray, slippery roads from oils that have laid dormant on the roads, so please be careful when out and about.
As this rain clears south, showers will follow which could merge to give longer spells of rain.
There is an increased risk of isolated thunderstorms into the afternoon on Thursday which could add to the totals already seen overnight into Thursday, just adding to the risk of localised flooding.
We will keep you posted on all the latest over the coming days.
